I can’t believe I never responded to this — imagined I had!

Thank you for the thoughtful note, and yes, I agree, there’s a fine line between being vulnerable and over-sharing, and I don’t think we as a culture, as a society, have yet figured out the differences between the two and how to navigate each.

I also think we may be at risk, however small, of “vulnerability tribalism” — between those who are openly vulnerable and those who are not. Vulnerability and compassion must go hand-in-hand, and too often, we talk about one and neglect the other.

But I, like you, also applaud the move towards normalizing vulnerability. It’s long overdue.
